Dubai Shopping Festival in its thirteenth edition comes with a new vision and strategy, Dubai is witnessing a scale of growth that has been matched by few nations in recent years and its dominating presence in the global tourism and commerce scene warrants a dynamic strategy for DSF in the coming years. The new strategy will cement Dubai’s leading status in the global tourism industry and pave way for further growth in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai. Our aim is to place Dubai Shopping Festival on par with other world festivals. DSF’s new strategy emphasizes shopping as a core focus in the coming editions of DSF. Additionally, the festival will play a significant role in promoting new entertainment projects and establishing a vibrant entertainment industry in Dubai. A key highlight of the strategy is the involvement of the private sector that will eventually organize 70 per cent of all entertainment activities in DSF with the DSF Office taking the lead in planning, marketing, and promoting the events within the festival. DSF has become a major player in the international entertainment industry, which in turn has shed a great spot of light on Dubai’s entertainment and tourism sector for the international tourists and took a supporting role for the economy overall. The coming edition of DSF will be unique in its own way when it welcomes visitors to a new season – ‘The Fifth Season’. So while the rest of the world will witness four seasons in a year, visitors to Dubai can bask in a fifth season that will be the best among them all. Complete with the finest possible entertainment and shopping opportunities, DSF visitors will be treated to a period of non-stop festivities for 32 days from January 24 to February 24, 2008. DSF future is bright and promising. The amazing annual growth of Dubai will further enhance the position of DSF as a leading shopping and entertainment event. The mega entertainment projects that will see the light in the coming few years will integrate with the new DSF strategy to reach the goals set by the leadership of this blessed country to attract 15 million visitors by the year 2010. |
